Developmental Milestone Assessment

Nurturing your child’s potential

A screening led by our Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist to see how your child moves, balances, and interacts with their world. This is ideal if you’re wondering, “Are we on track?” or need answers around a possible diagnosis (like developmental coordination disorder or cerebral palsy), plus a clear plan to support your child’s growth and participation.

How we can help

Why this assessment matters

  • Understand your child’s or teen’s physical and functional development

  • Get clarity for a potential diagnosis, if needed

  • Set clear therapy goals   —whether that’s learning to walk, improving coordination for sports, or building independence for high school and beyond

  • Enable referrals to allied health or specialist services as needed

  • Gain a full picture of your child’s or teen’s strengths and challenges

What we look at

  • Motor skills and strength – from crawling and walking in young children to sports performance, endurance, and fine motor skills in teens

  • Sensory and pain responses – how your child or teen reacts to movement, touch, sound, and discomfort

  • Everyday function – dressing, self-care, organisation, participation in school, hobbies, and social life

  • Environmental access and barriers – how your child or teen moves through and interacts with spaces like school, home, sports facilities, or public transport

  • Developmental history and relevant medical or family background, including growth changes during adolescence

What you’ll get

  • A clear picture of your child’s or teen’s motor and movement skills

  • A trusted, internationally recognised assessment using tools tailored to their age—whether they’re learning to sit, improving handwriting, or managing fatigue in high school

  • A personalised plan to help them thrive at home, school, sports and in social life

  • A  report that can be used for referrals or school support
